Praht Thai School Admissions Policy
At Praht Thai School our student base is primarily Thai.

We are, by all standards, an International School but we pride ourselves in being an International School designed for Thailand and Thai students.  Our admissions policy is guided by this philosophy.

Does this mean a non-Thai cannot join our school?
No, this is not what it means.
When you join PTS you will receive education delivered to a top level international standard and infused with international subject matter and curriculum. This means that a Praht Thai Education can apply to all students...as long as you are capable of learning or willing to learn at least part of your study programme in Thai.

Qualities we look for in our students.
We are here to create the best possible learning environment for your children. In doing so we look for families and students that will:

  1. Provide a positive contribution to the school
  2. Have the support of their family
  3. Support the higher ideals and vision of Praht Thai School

Student Testing
Students’ academic achievement and language proficiency are key to their future here but we make this a part of our assessment process for only one reason.

We assess a child’s ability, needs and current standard. This gives us a starting point with each child as an individual.  Our process recognises that all children develop differently, accelerate at different ages and respond to different teaching styles and environments differently so having any kind of negative or penalty based admission system has no place in our school.

Our assessment tests provide is the background information we need to assist your child to rise to our standard and to excel in their school life.

Age Cut-off Date
The age grading cut-off birth date is as at the 1st of June in an Academic year.

Joining our School.
We start our second term in October this year and have a new start-up class (aimed at transitioning of International school students) starting in September. Call for more details.

Language Skills
Non ‘Native Thai’ Speakers
The level of Thai of all non-native Thai speakers will be assessed and special bridging classes may be required to be taken for these students. A preference will be on placement of younger students in this category.
Non ‘Native English’ Speakers
The level of English of ALL students will be assessed for level placement.
Our level system transcends grades in the English Language Study programme at PTS. This will ensure your child can progress at their best possible rate in the acquisition of English.
Chinese
We teach Chinese to ALL students from the beginner level again through our level system to allow maximum progress for each individual.

Children with Special Educational Needs
The Praht Thai School operates a non-selective admissions policy and thus entry is not dependent upon academic achievement.  However, there are limits to the range of children to whom we can offer an appropriate educational programme. For this reason careful consideration is made for children with significant learning difficulties, i.e. those children who cannot work successfully in a regular classroom without individual specialist support.
Praht Thai School has special programmes covering dyslexic and ADHD diagnosed or suspected children so we are able to offer these as special support for parents in these circumstances.
